AICE Media Studies

      Today for our commercial we finished filming the last scenes. This took us about an hour to finish. We also shot some scenes of the refresher using a pan camera movement. We also did multiple close ups of the drink just to get some cool scenes showcasing them. I filmed most of the scenes and had my partner hold most of the drinks. For the scene of us clinking them together we had a friend record us. The scene of us clinking the drinks together starts with a zoom out of the drink and then goes to a medium shot of my friend and I. Lastly, one of my favorite scenes we filmed was a wide shot of my partner and I walking away from the camera with the drinks in the foreground. While we were filming I helped to record some of the scenes of her and help to direct a few of the other ones.    Today for the commercial Jade and I had filmed the first three scenes. We got the beginning scene of us zooming in on the refresher. I helped to direct this scene by making sure that the shot of the refresher was perfectly centered. I wanted to do this so that the editing would look really good once we were finished shooting it. A lot of our filming was done with future editing decisions in mind. The next scene we shot was of my group partner Jade holding and showing off the refresher. We made sure that the clip was a little longer then needed because we could always trim it down. I think this will make the editing look better with it because I can time it to the music better. This is also the scene that we planned to do a collage effect for when editing, so we made sure to put extra emphasis on the drink. On Sunday the 28th, I supplied my group with the props to begin filming our commercial. We had originally planned to start filming but that didn't happen yet. Despite the delay, I still made sure to pick up the refreshers we planned to use in the commercial. I wanted to be fully prepared for when we do begin filming. I also took time today to go through my wardrobe and see what outfits might work for our concept. I was focused on finding pieces that matched the bright summer aesthetic we had talked about. I tried on a few combinations to see which ones looked best on camera. My group partner did the same thing on her end. We both agreed that it's important for the wardrobe to reflect the tone of the commercial. After that, we went to the location we had chosen to use as our setting. First Scene: The scene is gonna fade in. We are going to zoom in on one of the refresher drinks. This shot will be an extreme close up and will have the text "Are you feeling thirsty?" over the drink. The location will be inside of my group partner's house, and will fade into the background as we zoom in. Second Scene: This scene is gonna show someone picking up the drink. The camera is gonna track the drink moving as she picks it up. We are going to use ambient sounds as she picks it up to make it more dramatic. Third Scene: This scene we are gonna show the subject carrying the drink in front of the camera and it switching between other drinks repeatedly like a collage. This is also gonna be a close up of the drink. We are gonna match up this editing style with the music in the background. PROPS: Our main props for this commercial will be the Dunkin' donuts and drinks. The drinks will be coffee and a refresher. COSTUMES: Our clothes for the commercial will be casual clothes with brighter colors to try and fit the bright aesthetics of  our commercial. Both my group member and I will be the subjects in the commercial.       Dunkin' commercials have a lot of high energy and bright themes, many of which showcase popular celebrities or trends at the time. I notice that they use a lot of different camera angles to showcase different drinks.      Pitch 1: Coffee/Refresher from Dunkin'      Pitch 2: Soda commercial with coke/sprite Conversation: We knew we wanted to do a drink commercial in general. So we decided between coffee/refreshers or soda. We were looking at the benefits for both and what/why we wouldn't choose that. For soda for example it's not really beneficial for people to drink unless they're thirsty. But the caffeine in coffee and refreshers helps keep you up.     Final Decision: So we decided to choose Dunkin' for our commercial because it's drinks that we both enjoy and we believe we can make a really good commercial with it.

      The person I want to work with for my project is Jadelyn Hoyte. I am really excited to start this project with her because we've been friends for a while now. She and I get along very well and I feel like are very similar people. She draws and does a lot of art in her free time like I do, so I feel like creatively we could get a lot done together! I always find it inspiring to be around people who are so creative like her, and I hope that that will reflect well in our project. I also really admire Jadelyn's work ethic. She's always able to get her work done and the time that she puts into her AICE classes is encouraging. I think it's very important in group projects to work with someone who reflects your time management skills. By working with Jade, I think that we will both be able to get this project done in a timely manner.     Hi, my name is Ava Cottrell! I am very excited to do the commercial project this year. I am 15 years old and turn 16 in November. I have a few different hobbies, but my favorites are reading, painting, playing video games, or watching movies. My favorite movies are Howl's Moving Castle, Little Miss Sunshine, and Pride and Prejudice. I would say I have a favorite book, but I always find it hard to pick. I find that whenever I finish a new book it always ends up becoming my current favorite. I have 3 cats at home, their names are Chloe, Phoebe, and Kourtney. I usually spend my weekends with my friends or sleeping at home watching TV. My favorite TV show right now is probably Yellowjackets or The Good Place. My favorite food is strawberry cheesecake.
