 1. One thing that I researched a lot when it came to the music video was the differences in stylistic choices between love music videos and break up ones. This consisted of warm colors, smoother transitions, and close ups for the scenes of the happy couples. For the sad scenes there was a lot of abrupt jump cuts, shorter shot lengths, and more desaturated tones. Our groups music video did follow these conventions pretty closely to try and convey the stark differences between the two types of scenes. I would say that the music video is more geared towards teens going through a break up. We wanted the music video to reflect the theme of heartbreak throughout the whole film. We tried to attract an audience that would relate to the emotional tone we created in the video. 2.  This is my groups final product for the music video. For the project, I worked as the editor. I helped to decide what scenes should be used when. I also got to have a lot of creative input with how the final version would end up looking. I also acted a lot for the project. I think that my editing skills have definitely improved because of the time we spent on the project. I do think that my group could have worked better on their communication, but I still think that the project has turned out really well. I am really proud of all of the camera angles we used to create this video.   There were many mise en sc èn e elements used throughout our video that we put a lot of detail into. Overall, I am really happy with what we have created, and I think this group got a lot of good work done together. I can't wait for the next project!

Today was our last day editing. I began by discussing with my group partner on what we needed to accomplish. The two of us made a list before I got to work. I started off editing by creating some drafts of what our final shots would be in the music video. The first idea and what we originally planned to do was to do a cross cutting shot between a shot of me crying and a shot of me smiling. This was done to try and leave the music video off on more of a happy note. I found that this ending did not look as nice as we originally thought it was going to. This made me pivot to the other idea we had. The shot where the painting of him was being scribbled out would be our conclusion and would end with scribbles covering the entire screen. I knew that this was going to be the perfect way to close it up. It took me a while to figure out how to get the scribble transition to wrap up the music video. Once we wrapped up filming, me and my group member Rafidah began our work on editing the videos. Today, that mostly consisted of just finding the right placement of the scenes. We both created our own concept of what we thought it should look like on our own to see which one we liked better and what ideas we wanted to incorporate.  To create my editing draft of the music video I used the app Videostar to complete it. I chose this app because it is what I am most familiar with. I have used this app before on previous projects so splicing the clips together on it was not hard for me. I started off the music video by showing the shots of the calendar with the heart on it to a shot of me tearing it up. I also used a cross cutting technique between the shot of the calendar being torn up and the shot of us dancing. I did this by keeping track of the beats in the song so that when the clip switches it coincided with the cue of the music. One of my main worries about editing the music vide...

We filmed the outside scenes we needed today in my car and in a Starbucks nearby to us. Arguing in the car with my friend was a very important shot that we needed because it added a lot more tension in the music video. I knew that for this clip I wanted to cross cut it between the scene of the two characters walking together. This meant that we had to keep the camera very still to ensure that the cross cutting wouldn’t look messy. Acting in the scene I found to be a little difficult. Staying in character and making sure my emotions looked realistic for the scene was harder than I thought it would be. After refilming it a couple of times we got the necessary shots. I actually suggested that we put on intense music while we pretended to argue, which funnily enough made it a lot more convincing of a scene.
