  • What titles are displayed during the opening sequence?

The first title card is that the Nanny is presented by Amazon Studios, who helped to distribute the film. The next title card is the other studios in collaborationTopic Studios, Stay Gold Features, Linlay Productions. The next title card is the company that helped to direct it, Blumhouse. After that is the companies that produced the film, Stay Gold Features and Mouth of a Shark. Lastly, the final title card is the director Nikyatu Jusa.

  • What images are prioritized in the opening sequence and why do you think they were chosen?

In the opening sequence the title cards are placed on a black background. The first image shown is a close up shot of protagonists' face as the camera slowly fades in. As the camerzooms closer to her face, her eyes begin to open as a spider crawls from the side of her face into view. At the end of the opening scene there is another extreme close up shot of her laying on her sideI think these shots were done to highlight the audience to focus on her emotions and stillness, as the spider crawls up her face. The spider also conveys a heavy sensof unease, anxiety anfearfulness to the audience.

  • How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset? Why did you see that made you feel that way?

The opening sequence creates a disturbed feeling matching the thriller genre first through their use of colorsThe film’s title sequence uses dark blues and blacks to create an unsettling tone. Not only that, but the film uses a close up shot on the protagonist in bedmaking the viewer feel more trapped as they watch her experience some sort of nightmare in bed. The film also uses sound effects and music to add more of an anxious feeling to the sequence.
