Movie Research: Quiet Place Part II (2021)

 What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? 

In Quiet Place Part II they used heightened natural sounds, which we would take inspiration from and such as in our movie we would use the sounds of crunching when (character) eats an apple, footsteps, someone’s heartbeat, and heavy breathing. In Quiet Place Part 2, they also used cold light to reference danger, which we also plan to use. In this movie details are heavily paid attention to such as when the newspaper says, “ It’s Sound!” highlighting the characters’ focus on survival and furthering the story. In our opening sequence, we will also be paying attention to details such as having a necklace that will be worn throughout the scenes around the protagonists’ neck which will be swinging in the hand of the antagonists by the end, helping to form a story. 

What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked and why? 

The Quiet Place Part II mutes certain scenes, which highlights the fear the characters go through. Many scenes of the movie also begins with a close-up of the character’s feet as they have to keep their footsteps silent, then zoom out to the whole environment. This camera movement makes the scenery look breathtaking, but intimidating because it subtly reminds the viewer that the characters must be silent. Additionally, there is a scene that has a three-shot silhouettes of the three main characters. This scene was unique because it isolated the  

What conventions of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you and you are thinking of not filming for your final task? 

In Quiet Place Part II uses a monster as their area of focus which done with CGI, we will not be doing this as our main area of focus is a stalker concept. In addition to that, CGI is beyond our skill set. It is also set in an apocalyptic setting, a desolate, sound-sensitive landscape populated by lethal, blind, armored extraterrestrial creatures
