 Song Pitch One: Displays a teenage love story. It would use music to create a nostalgic feeling to connect with the audience. It would begin with a couple holding hands walking down the street. The next scene, it would use a wide shot of them at the park going on the swings and down the slide. It would then use an over the shoulder shot to display them on the opposite sides of a book shelve at the library. It would show them making eye contact and smiling while removing the books in front of them to see each other on the other side. To conclude, it would then show them at the beach using a medium-long shot of them, with her head on his shoulder, looking out to the ocean.  

We liked the concept for this music video as, often times, a lot of songs convey the meaning of love, which would mean it would be easier to pick a song, as well as research ideas for it. However, we all collectively agreed that this idea would not challenge us.  

Song Pitch Two: Displays a story of heartbreak and anger. The music is more melancholic and dramatic, with either distortion or dissonant notes to help support the feeling of heartbreak and anger the main character goes through. The video would begin by displaying a calendar with a heart marked around the date of their anniversary. Next, it would flash scenes between the shot of her ripping the calendar into pieces. Following that, it would show a scene of the couple smiling and laughing together, which would then flash between a scene being compared to them arguing in anger at each other. The next scene would use a shot of her doing her makeup prettily, which would flash in comparison to a shot of her crying at her vanity with mascara running down her face. Then, it would display a scene of her lying on the bed cuddled up next to her boyfriend smiling while looking at her phone. This would be compared to the scene of her in the dark lying on her bed as her face is illuminated by her phone showing the mascara that ran down her face. The next scene would display them at a cafe/restaurant sitting across from each other on a date which would transition to the same set, but just the girl in the restaurant to show the stark contrast of her sitting alone fiddling her straw in her cup. The next scene would display them holding hands while walking, while being compared to her, pulling her arm away from him. The next scene would then show an over the shoulder scene of her having an art date of drawing a portrait of her boyfriend which would be compared to her in fury drawing devil horns on her drawing of him. To make a final transition, it would show a medium-long shot of her ex-boyfriend with his face scribbled out. That then would transition to a blackout scene as it looks like someone is taking a black marker to cover the screen. For the final scene, it would show a close-up shot of her face saying a meaningful message at the end of the music video to leave a lasting impression on the audience. 

After looking through ideas for songs, we narrowed down to the scope of anger and heartbreak rather than love which we had for our first pitch. This was more difficult to find music for as this genre of music would often have a rather fast pace, making it harder to create transition and time the scenes correctly. However, through a lot of research and digging, we found a few songs that could work on. Overall, we liked this idea as we felt it could convey an important and impactful meaning to our audience. 

Chosen Pitch: Our music video will show the heartbreak storyline. The music video will have a variety of starkly different scenes to emphasize the feelings of heartbreak and anger compared to the past happiness of when they were together. We chose the second pitch because it allows us to interpret the potential music in our music video more creatively than the first pitch.
